Collaborative
Collection Management Policy
The project has encouraged a collaborative approach to acquisitions using collection
profiling to facilitate an objective evaluation of areas of overlap
and omissions in the collections. This aims to eliminate, as far as
possible, given the different mission and client group of each
partner, unnecessary duplication and lead to a more effective use of
resources with resulting cost benefits. Closer co-operation will
also encourage a more effective use of the impressive subject
expertise which exists in the staff of the institutions.
A collaborative retention policy,
while considering at all times the interests of the main
stakeholders and their constituencies, will show cost benefits in
the following areas:
 |
reduction
of duplication |
 |
economies
through shared purchase |
 |
saving
in storage space |
 |
interlending |
